How does PRP work?
Hair loss can happen at any time throughout adulthood, although it is often associated with ageing and genetics. Balding occurs when the hair follicles, the tiny sacs that anchor individual hairs to the scalp, begin to shrink, allowing the hair to fall out.
PRP for hair loss is a procedure where we inject the platelets found in a patient’s blood, activating growth factors to improve the blood supply to their hair follicles and increase the thickness of their hair shafts.
The entire procedure takes around 30 minutes. We will draw a sample of your blood and then spin it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets. Then, it will be extracted and injected into the balding areas of your scalp.
Hair follicles are nourished and stimulated in the scalp, increasing blood flow to the area. PRP hair treatment typically requires a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, and results may vary from patient to patient.
We recommend that patients repeat the treatment every month for three or four months, then once every three to six months.

Genetic Testing for Hair Loss
We will discuss the procedure during your initial PRP hair loss consultation at the HSA Dermal Clinic. We will also talk about lifestyle choices that can affect hair loss and special genetic testing for hair loss. TrichoTest™ is an innovative genetic test we recommend to our patients to determine the cause of hair loss and personalise hair loss treatment.
The genetic testing for hair loss – TrichoTest™ analyses genetic factors and other relevant characteristics obtained through an anamnesis of the patient. This process provides a complete understanding of the underlying factors of hair loss development.
