Sun damaged skin occurs as a result of extreme or long-term exposure to the sun’s UV, or ultra-violet, rays. It takes the form of brownish patches and/or sun spots on the hands, arms and face. Other types of sun damaged skin include lines, wrinkles and patchy dry skin.
Hyperpigmentation is a condition in which areas of the skin become darker in colour. This is caused by an excess of melanin (the pigment that produces our normal skin colour), which forms deposits in areas of the skin.
Treatments for sun damaged skin and hyperpigmentation include chemical skin peels such as three step ZO Obagi peel, VI peel precision plus – the perfect peel, Cosmelan treatment, MeLine peel and products. In our skin treatment clinic, we also use ZO Obagi skin products to treat epidermal and dermal pigmentation and these are highly effective.
Another option is micro-derm abrasion (the exfoliation of outer layers of the skin), intense pulsed light, or IPL, therapy (flashes of light from a high-energy, full-spectrum xenon lamp), and laser skin resurfacing, which vaporises the outer skin layers.
VI Peel for Skin Rejuvenation Face, Neck and Decolletage
The skin on the face, neck and décolletage, or cleavage, is fragile and delicate, and requires regular skin rejuvenation treatments. Exposure to the sun and other environmental factors can hasten the ageing process and make the skin of the décolletage, neck and face lose elasticity, and become dry and stiff.
To improve the elasticity and tone of the skin, there are a few highly effective skin rejuvenation treatments, such as volumizing dermal fillers, platelet-rich plasma therapy and micro-needling as well as mesotherapy and chemical peels. In some cases, a combination of these treatments is more beneficial.
Micro-needling freshens the skin, restores its glow and flattens and smooths out any lines and wrinkles. During the needling treatment, the skin is hydrated and treated with oils and vitamins, as well as a collagen mask.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy, or PRP, is a natural way to rejuvenate and repair skin in these areas. The plasma is injected into the epidermis, helping the cells to repair any skin damage. It also firms and rejuvenates the skin and makes it more radiant. The effects of PRP skin rejuvenation treatment last for 12 months or even longer, after having undergone three treatments.
The Cellular Matrix PRP treatment available in our skin treatment clinic combines in the same tube platelet rich plasma and Hyluronic acid (HA) which helps boost collagen, elastin and hydration.
Injections with a dermal filler improve the appearance of ageing skin in the neck and décolletage areas. Mesotherpay treatment using medical grade injectables such as mesoasthetic products like Revitacare, Cytocare and Filorga, enhances skin quality, aids in skin rejuvenation by improving texture, radiance and hydration.
VI Peel for Acne Scar Treatment
The best treatment for acne where scars are left behind is to have skin microneedling to enhance collagen production and promote healing. Another option is medium to strong chemical peels such as the VI Purify peel for scarring or the VI Purify peel precision plus for scarring and hyperpigmentation.
Another effective treatment is laser treatment or dermal filler. Laser skin resurfacing smooths out the surface of the skin and helps to increase the production of new collagen fibres. You’ll only need as little as one to three laser treatments.
Laser treatment takes two forms: Ablative laser treatment removes or vaporises the scar tissue and results in new, smooth skin growth. Non-ablative laser treatment triggers the production of new collagen, which helps to fill in acne scars.
Another acne scar treatment option is facial filler injections. These fill the hollows and indentation marks left behind from deep acne scars. However, this procedure needs to be repeated every 5 to 6 months, until the scars have cleared up.
