Dermal and Lip Fillers

Lip fillers and face fillers can be used to treat facial aging in the following ways:

  • To plump up thin lips and smooth out wrinkle lines found around the edges of the lips.
  • To add volume and smooth out deep creases, or laugh lines, running from the nose to the mouth.
  • To fill out any hollows or depressions under the eyes.
  • To augment cheeks and improve their shape.
  • To fill out gauntness in the temple and lower cheek areas.

Depending on the type of wrinkle filler used, the effects can last anywhere from nine months to two years. In the case of permanent or semi-permanent face fillers, the effects can last around five years or even longer.

Naturally-derived face fillers like hyaluronic acid have a much smaller risk of causing an allergic reaction but these sometimes occur. Results are instant but only last for around 12-18 months, sometimes a little longer. Wrinkle fillers slowly break down, so you need to have more filler injection treatments down the line.

Facial Volume Loss

We can all tell when we’re looking older, but what many of us don’t realise is that this is due to ‘volume loss’ and that as we age our faces start to ‘sag’ or ‘sink’. In most cases, surgical procedures can tighten the skin and muscle and reduce sagging, but the one thing it can’t restore is lost volume.

Those areas on the face that typically lose volume are the brow, cheeks and lips. As the cheeks lose volume, they lower or sag from their usual high position near the eyes. What then happens is that folds from the corners of the nose to the mouth, and from just beneath the corners of the mouth and around the jowls appear.

Fillers for the face is the recommended treatment. These anti-wrinkle injections add volume, rejuvenate the facial area and produce a natural looking improvement and youthfulness. Used in various areas of the face, facial fillers add volume and help you regain a more youthful look.

Lip Augmentation and Contouring, Lip Contouring, Lip Enhancement, Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation and lip contouring is a non-surgical, dermal filler treatment which gives proper definition to the contour of your lips. This highly desirable treatment helps create a beautiful lip outline in the form of a cupid’s bow. In addition, it can be used to reduce those unsightly smoker’s lines above the upper lip and improve definition to the lower philtrum – the channel between the nose and upper lip.

The procedure involves a series of lip filler injections at specific points along the outline of the lip contour (vermillion border). This dermal lip filler gently redefines the contour and shape of the lips and the effects can last anywhere between 6-9 months. The lip augmentation can also be used to reduce the appearance of those fine vertical lines above and around the lip area and to correct asymmetric lips.

Lip augmentation and contouring produces exciting results – from that appealing cupid’s bow to a more pronounced philtrum and vermilion border. To maintain the aesthetic appearance of your lips, it’s a good idea to undergo treatments every six months or so.

Lip Fillers

If your lips are thin or not well-defined and you’d like them to be full and plump, then a lip enhancer procedure is the way to go. Fuller and more sensuous lips are a number one priority on most people’s beauty wish lists and these can be fashioned by injecting the lips with dermal fillers which are made from materials naturally found in the body.

Dermal filler lips are safe and simple and take the form of injections of hyaluronic acid. There are several types on the market and these include Juvederm Volbella, Juvederm ultra smile, Boletero Balance, Boletero Intense, Teosyl Redensity II and Restylane Silk. These lip fillers help create, in a matter of minutes, gorgeous, luscious lips that have great shape and volume.

Other fillers that can be used are Elevess, Captique, HylaForm, Belotero Balance and Prevelle Silk, all of which are injected in the same way and produce very similar results. The lip fillers used in our London skin treatment clinic contain a local anaesthetic called lidocaine, which makes the injections completely painless. The treatment lasts anywhere between 6 to 12 months.

Cheek Augmentation

Over time, our faces lose fat which can cause the cheeks to sag and leave us with a hollow, gaunt look. Although some people are born with naturally high cheekbones, others are not so lucky. Cheek fillers treatment take the form of injections with a dense dermal filler such as Juvederm Voluma and Boletero Volume. These fillers work remarkably well, enhancing the facial features and giving a refreshed look.

Cheek augmentation treatments restore the volume, definition and plumpness of the cheeks and by using dermal fillers, can last between 15 to 18 months, so you can look forward to a more youthful-looking you. The fillers are injected by either using a needle or a cannula.

Tear Trough Filler

Tear troughs are those small hollows, circles, or depressions, that run from your nose to the area just under your eyes. Over time, this part of the face suffers from sagging and as a result wrinkles normally develop. In many cases, this area turns dark and baggy, making us look drawn and older looking.

Sagginess in this part of the face is caused by a lack of sleep, an unhealthy lifestyle and, of course, ageing. As a result, there’s a loss facial fat, especially just under the eyes and around the top of the cheeks.

Tear trough treatment is quick and easy and involves the injection of a tear trough filler such as Juvederm Volbela or Teosyl Redensity II or Boletero Balance just above the bones of the eye sockets to fill the hollows or depressions. Once injected, the filler is then gently massaged into the fatty tissues underneath the eyes.

Tear trough treatment gets rid of the unsightly dark areas and hollows under the eyes and plumps up the loose, sagging skin. In so doing, wrinkles disappear and those dreaded dark circles fade and return to their normal skin tone.

Jaw Augmentation, Jaw line enhancement and definition

The best non-surgical way to improve the look of your jawline and jowls is by having jaw fillers. If your jawline has started to sag, lacks definition, is crooked or lopsided, then jaw augmentation treatment is a good idea. Jawline enhancement uses injections of jaw fillers, which can be permanent, semi-permanent, or even just temporary.

Most people choose the temporary treatment option as the effects can be reversed easily, if needed. If you choose the permanent jawline augmentation procedure, the filler can only be removed surgically.

During the jawline enhancement process, small amounts of dermal filler are injected at several places along the jawline. This fills the skin from the inside out, and alters the contours of the jaw area. The results are a more prominent and well-defined jawline.

The facial filler used for this treatment, plumps the loose, sagging skin around the jaw and makes for a more youthful looking you. The entire jaw enhancement procedure only takes around 30 minutes, and there are no bandages. The fillers used in this area is usually a volumising high viscosity and high-density filler. Another kind of filler such as Radiesse can also be used and has the advantage of not only volumising the area but it stimulates the body’s own production of collagen and elastin.

Chin Augmentation, Chin reshaping and enhancement

A non-surgical chin augmentation involves the injection of facial fillers and is a safe and very effective treatment. The dermal filler (hyaluronic acid injections), or alternatively Radiesse injections, which both act as a facial filler and a collagen booster is injected into the chin to augment and shape the jawline area. The dermal filler is injected into the chin to augment and shape the jawline area. Depending on the exact treatment required, chin fillers are injected either at the point of the chin, or along the jawline.

Following the hyaluronic acid injections, it’s a good idea to undergo some gentle massage and moulding sessions, as this helps to complete the treatment and achieve the desired aesthetic appearance. Chin augmentation treatments take no more than 15 to 20 minutes and an anaesthetic is not required. The effects of chin fillers last around 12 to 14 months.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

A non-surgical nose job is a treatment in which injectable skin fillers, or dermal fillers (most commonly hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm Voluma) are used to change and shape the nose without invasive surgery. A nose job without surgery involves hyaluronic acid injections in conjunction with a specially designed PDO thread, called the Broom.

Specific areas around the nose are treated this way and help to reshape and redefine the nasal bridge. This amazing new treatment is perfect for rebuilding and shaping a flattened or crooked nasal bridge without having to remove any vital nasal cartilage. The entire procedure only takes around half an hour to complete. Plus, there’s very little, if any, pain, bleeding or swelling afterwards. This nose reshaping without surgery will usually last up to 12 to 18 months.

Temple Treatment

One area of the face where ageing causes obvious changes is around the temples. When volume is lost in the temple region it gives your face a drawn, gaunt, or hollow, look – sometimes this is described as a ‘skeletal’ appearance. Dark shadows or hollows appear that are not found in a youthful face.

At our skin treatment clinic in London we can add volume to these areas by injecting them with dermal fillers. This is a highly effective and natural-looking way to restore ageing around the temples. Treating them with a facial filler such as Juvederm Voluma or Juvederm Ultra improves the look dramatically.

A temple treatment with these fillers lasts longer than with normal dermal fillers and results in a completely natural-looking rejuvenation. The technique used in injecting the filler would be either needle injections directly on the bone or superficial injections using cannula.
